David Naylamp Jimenez is a self tough artist, Peruvian born, based in New York City. The artist work reflects his activist work on issues of immigration, worker organizing, as well as more personal on war, memory and violence. He uses markers, photocopying to create texture the illusion of wood and lino cut printing. Naylamp depicts his characters with large hands as to symbolize power, strength and to communicate emotions.
Naylamp started doing art work for record covers for US Latino punk scene from the 90's and 2000's bands like los Crudos, Huasipungo, No Slogan, Revolucion X, Sin Orden. He also designed the record covers for a series of Peruvian punk bands from the 80's who he co release in his record label Discos huayno amargo.
Currently, Naylamp has been experimenting with many mediums, acrylic paint, sculpture and have become very interested in the lowbrow, surreal pop art movements. He is also in the very beginning stages producing a toy and has been producing some prints using some Japanese woodblock printing techniques. Huayco amargo is a space that holds art that naylamp has been doing for ages. Naylamp is not an artist, eventhough all his life has battle markers, paint brushes, pencils, or photoshops.
Huayco Amargo es un "espacio" para poner el trabajo con arte que a hecho naylamp desde hace tiempo.
naylamp no es artista, aunque toda la vida se la haya pasado peleando sea con un plumón, un pincel, un lápiz o photoshop.
